Phagocytosis: Inflammation-Obesity Relationship

چکیده

Obesity is a chronic, multifactorial disease with increasing worldwide prevalence. It characterized by excessive adipose tissue accumulation in the body, which decreases patient’s life expectancy and has been associated higher incidence of chronic degenerative diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, systemic arterial hypertension, cancer, cardiovascular disease. Several investigations have found that obese humans rodents infiltrated high number macrophages. These cells interact apoptotic adipocytes, internalize accumulate lipids to become foam cells. processes lead release proinflammatory mediators promote insulin resistance. In addition, individuals obesity levels circulating neutrophils; however, these also infection, indicating phagocytic function affected. This chapter describes several studies could partly explain mechanisms affected obesity. Therapeutic alternatives favor capacity are discussed.

Phagocytosis without inflammation

Thymocytes must pass a series of checkpoints on the road to becoming mature T cells. On page 603, Mandal et al. show that cells use Bcl2A1, a member of the Bcl2 family of survival proteins, to pass one critical checkpoint. The cell cannot make substitutes for this protein in a pinch, revealing that Bcl2A1 may be uniquely specialized for promoting survival without suppressing proliferation. To b...

Unraveling the Complex Relationship Triad between Lipids, Obesity, and Inflammation

Obesity today stands at the intersection between inflammation and metabolic disorders causing an aberration of immune activity, and resulting in increased risk for diabetes, atherosclerosis, fatty liver, and pulmonary inflammation to name a few. Increases in mortality and morbidity in obesity related inflammation have initiated studies to explore different lipid mediated molecular pathways of a...

Macrophage Phagocytosis of Aging Neutrophils in Inflammation

Mechanisms governing the normal resolution processes of inflammation are poorly understood, yet their elucidation may lead to a greater understanding of the pathogenesis of chronic inflammation. The removal of neutrophils and their potentially histotoxic contents is one prerequisite of resolution. Engulfment by macrophages is an important disposal route, and changes in the senescent neutrophil ...

Obesity, inflammation, and macrophages.

The World Health Organization estimates that since 1980 the prevalence of obesity has increased more than threefold throughout much of the world, and this increase is not limited to developed nations. Indeed, the incidence of obesity is increasing most rapidly among rapidly industrializing countries raising the spectre of a burgeoning epidemic in obesity-associated diseases, including diabetes,...
